A good thief never gets caught, or so they say. The backbone of any good thief is mastering the skills of the Ledgermain, or as This One likes to call it "hiding in the shadows". Light on the feet and nimble hands is what separates the cream of the crop from the regular cutpurses. Honing these skills takes considerable time so be like the Bandaari and begin your journey across the disciplines of the Ledgerman. Improved hidingImproved Hiding is the first trait of a Ledgermain. It allows the practitioner to reduce the cost of their sneak by 40%. A very useful trait for those who cannot dare forfeit their mortality to become a vampiric bloodletter, or for the fool who doesn't wear the Vesture of Darloc Brae. It is understandable when you begin your thieving career that you most likely won't have either on hand so this is the only thing that's helping you sneak around for those longer trails. This One does encourage the practitioner to invest in a good set of Darloc Brae as it helps one stay low for as long as possible. Just try to ignore the glittering purple and gold sparkles that comes with the gear. light fingersA personal favorite of This One, having Light Fingers allows the practitioner to increase their success with pickpocketing by 50%. A most generous boon indeed, and one that is rewarded quite well with a greater increase in experience with the Ledgermain skills. As a Khajiit, This One is able to stack their innate Cutpurse instincts and gain an extra 5% success rate on pickpocketing. No wonder the God of Thieves is none other than the Great Rajhin! While the moons bless us Khajiit, the 5 claws will have to settle for what the Ledgermain has to offer, which is still sizable. If you're a thrill seeker try picking the pocket of a guard and see what happens. traffickerGet to know your Fence well, and keep a very good relationship with them. You'll be seeing them quite often. Each time you fence or launder your items to a Fence you'll gain more experience with the Ledgermain skills. A healthy relationship with your Fence becomes favorable once one increases their Trafficker reputation. Traffickers can increase the number of transactions with any Fence by up to 180%! For those who's brains cannot be bothered with math that is a total of 140 Fence transactions one is permitted per day. Why is there a limit one might ask? Even the Fence cannot dry up their coffers in a single day, or else how would they have the gold to give you tomorrow? LOCKSMITHPicking pockets and locks is how One must increase their profit when one is a thief. Not only will One find themselves with more gold, but each source has their own chance of dropping special items like furnishings and patterns! When you have the lockpicking chances that This One has you can simply force the pick to open the lock, which works most of the time. Extremely time efficient, especially during high pressure moments like during Heists. This One has found quite a few nifty things when breaking into homes and picking pockets. For example, Guards have a chance to drop wanted posters you can decorate your home with. Guards will also drop Polished Shillings, which is the crafting trait used to make armor in the style of Abah's Watch. KICKBACKAh yes, the last of the Ledgermain skills and one that canh help ease the hurt on your pockets. If you're the type to get caught in the act often you know how quickly a bounty can rack up and become very expensive. Kickbacks allows the practitioner to reduce the amount they owe on their bounty to both Fences and Guards by 40%. One bad Heist could set you back by tens of thousands, so visiting your local Fence and brushing off that excessive bounty for less. Saving gold is making gold, or so This One has heard.
The Ledgermain skills are just the basics of the tools available to any thief, but they are the backbone of how successful your career will be. Besides, you get the nifty title of "Locksmith" once you've mastered the Ledgermain and reach level 20 with the skill. Get to squatting and start picking those pockets, unlocking those locks and developing a long term relationship with your Fence. May the moons bless you Walker.
