To be a true craftsman is to be certified am I wright? Well you'll be pleased to have none other than DioDiablo to show you how easy it is to get certified! It's a task that relatively takes 5 minutes, or less if you already have the necessary material on hand. You have 7 disciplines you can become certified in: blacksmithing, woodworking, clothier, alchemy, enchanging, provisioning and jewelry. The lovely Bosmer Millenith can issue certifications in: blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothier. Danel Telleno can issue certifications for: alchemy, enchanting and provisioning. For jewelry certifications you'll need to make a special trip to Alinor (Summerset Isles) and visit Felarian for your jewelry certification. Why get certified you might ask? Well it's to be able to do crafting writs of course, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves right now. Let's breakdown the certification process by exploring Blacksmithing so you know what to expect for the other crafting disciplines. how to get certifiedPublic Crafting Stations Can Be Found In Major Cities Across Nirn While you can freely use crafting stations for personal use, in order to unlock crafting writs you will need to be certified in a specific discipline to unlock daily writs for said discipline. We'll get into the importance of writs later, as we first need certification! Inside the public crafting areas you will find NPCs that can issue certifications to each character you make. Certifications are per character, as the experience gained and the materials that can be used are also tied to a character's skill point investment into a crafting skill line. For blacksmith certification we'll need to visit Millenith to accept her quest. Millenith, the equipment writ certifier. Accepting her quest is as simple as working through a few dialogue prompts, where you will want to choose the blacksmith option. From there Millenith will provide some helpful details on gathering materials for her certification, which is to craft an iron dagger. If you don't have any iron ore on you then she will give you a quest step to go to a nearby field to gather iron ore from an ore vein. You will need a minimum of 10 iron ore to produce the necessary amount of iron ingot to craft the iron daggers. Once you make your way to the blacksmith station you can use the guide on the left of the screen to help you keep track of the materials you are using for your craft. For quests you can keep an eye on the arrows next to each item necessary for crafting to ensure you are indeed making the correct item. As you can see my Nord is ready to craft is first iron dagger to turn into Millenith. Showing Millenith the iron dagger will trigger her next request for certification, which is to deconstruct the iron dagger you just created. Make sure that you uncheck the "include banked items" box so you don't accidentally deconstruct anything valuable! Deconstruction will return materials used in crafting, and more depending on what's being deconstructed. You will also gain inspiration (crafting experience) when you deconstruct items. Deconstructing items you did not make will yield significantly more inspiration. Once you've deconstructed the item return to Millenith to receive your blacksmith certification! This is a process you will repeat for all crafting disciplines if you wish to do writs for each type of craft. why do writs matter anyway?Crafting writs serve several purposes that are very beneficial for apprentice crafters, and can be a great way to make some side money very early in your ESO journey. The primary purpose that crafting writs serve is to be a great source of inspiration (crafting experience), in which it provides a hefty amount. Just keep in mind that writs do use up your crafting materials, so if your low on mats you'll want to hit up a gathering route and get going. Completing crafting writs will also allow for you to gain bonus rewards in the form of crafting materials, extra gear, and most importantly for the occasional sealed master writ that drops after you've reached level 50 in the respective crafting discipline. master writsMaster Rolis Hlaalu and Faunsita Curio in Mornhold (Deshaan) Master writs are endgame activities for master crafters who have gained enough knowledge to perform them. The best master writs will be equipment and jewelry writs as they yield the most writ vouchers (currency to spend with the master writ vendors). While coming across sealed writs is a natural byproduct of doing your daily writs, you'll want to make sure that you know a fair amount of motifs, along with having the style material, to complete master writs. If you are working up your first crafter I'd suggest selling any sealed writs you get at a guild trader as these are highly sought after items that do sell for a small fortune. I'd say once you have at least 20 motif styles learned you can start unsealing master writs to begin building up your stash of writ vouchers. Writ vouchers are the currency that you will need to use with the master writ vendors Rolis and Faunsita to obtain exclusive and highly valuable items. These items sell for top dollar on guild traders literally into the hundreds of thousands of gold! If you are working on getting your own personal crafting stations for your homestead then you'll want to save those writs to buy your Grandmaster stations, which are 1.2k vouchers a pop! Grandmaster crafting stations allows for attunable stations, that have been attuned to a specific gearset, to be absorbed into the grandmaster crafting station to be added to the list of unlocked crafting sets that you find scattered across Nirn. There are other great things you can purchase from these NPCs, but I'll let you take a look for yourself and what they have to offer. I'll provide a more in depth guide on master writs further down the line as we work our way through the "Wright To Craft" series. An Example Of A Fully Attuned Blacksmith Station
