The very first thing you do when starting a new account in ESO is creating your character. While the mantra "play the way you want" is the pretense of the game, creating a character in ESO is more complex than the game itself will explain. This content block will be a thick ass brick because we're going to breakdown the character building process from the character creation menu all the way through putting together a proper build you can take on any endeavor. 1. CHARACTER CREATIONPrevious Character Creator Menu Before High Isle The first part of the character creator process is choosing your race, class, alliance (to a degree), and of course how your character looks and their name. Most new players aren't going to be aware that each race has their own set of passives that gives them unique properties that can compliment well with certain classes. With this in mind we're going to step away from the "play the way you want" mantra and use this as a teaching lesson on how to build your character in an optimized way. 2. SKILL LINESThe source of all of your abilities and passives will come from your skill lines. There's a plethora of skill lines you can acquire so we'll break them down in their respective video. Just be aware of the list on the left showing each skill line category. Clicking on each category will open their respective skill line menus and give you vital information for each ability and passive. This is going to become part of your core in building your character. 3. CHARACTER TOOLTIPThis is where new players start to feel like they're reading gibberish. Thankfully the tooltip itself will tell you what each stat and attribute is, but it doesn't explain very well how they work. That's where I step in and help break down this massive menu. I'll be honest with you categorizing this will be a task in itself, but it's going to be done in a way to where it'll make sense to understand. 4. Champion PointsChampion points have been reworked sometime between the Greymoor and Blackwood chapters and took a complex system and made it even more complex. ESO's version of the star chart, champion points enhances what's already there and adds some extra oomph to encourage certain playstyles. Champion points will affect your stats in your tooltip and on gear sets so of all things this is what you want to have a solid understanding of. 5. PUTTING IT ALL TOGEHTERThis is where we've taken everything we've learned and put it all together. Gear sets and mundus stones will be introduced here as they're going to be necessary to making your build work. This is where you can go buck wild and make whatever you feel meets your fancy, but you your goal is endgame you want a cohesive build. Note that I did not say META, but cohesive. Some endgame groups will require specific sets and abilities, but that's something we'll worry about much later. Right now you just need to build your character to a point where you can enjoy ESO without struggling.
