If there was one thing that Zenimax executed flawlessly it was giving the Khajiit and Elsweyr the glow up it desperately needed. The Elder Scrolls Online was the first time we've had the opportunity to physically explore Elsweyr, and boy ZOS did not hold back! The way that the Khajiit and their homeland had been described in previous TES games feels like a prologue to what you get to experience with the Elsweyr chapter. From breathtaking biomes to deep seeded lore and storytelling among the Khajiit there really is no other feeling in ESO that can replicate this level of immersion. The kicker here is that some of the storylines of the Five Companions who helped us end the Planemeld get and epic closer by the end of the chapter. These were plot twists done right. That's not all we're gonna focus on though, here's what our Road to Warm Sands will cover. TRADE AND COMMERCEThe cornerstone of the Khajiit culture and lifestyle is trade and commerce. Whether it be and exchange of gold or something of equal value, the blood life that keeps any Khajiit going no matter where they're at is a means to sell goods, trinkets, or information. One must be weary trading with Khajiit, for you may need to accept that your goods may have came from a smuggler. Thieving is not frowned upon among the Khajiit as there are a few "bandit" gods that are highly revered among the Khajiit. If you can outsmart the thief in their own game you deserve the reward more than they do. Some merchant guilds like the Bandaari have a code they follow, but any Khajiit is ready to work up a deal, or gamble against the odds. KHAJIITI TONGUEThe language that the Khajiit speak is a strange tongue for those unfamiliar to the region. We'll be covering some of the basics, honorifics, and common catchphrases that you'll hear come up in conversation from time to time. Once you get deep into the language and get more comfortable with the pronunciations, it can be a fun language to speak in. We won't get that deep this time around. THE MOONSThe moons have an adverse effect on the Khajiit. From the moment they are born the phase of the moon will determine what type of Khajiit they are. There are some conspiracy prophecies tied to the moons as well. Then of course we have Joan and Jode, the sun and moon gods that have a grip on the Khajiiti pantheon. Despite the surface level opinions that many have about the Khajiit, they are a very religious and devout race with many temples scattered across their territories across Tamriel. FACTIONS & PROMINENT FIGURESThere are litters of factions and organizations among the Khajiit, but we're going to focus more on the eye catching and plot important organizations. Some fan favorite characters return, while new ones are established during the liberation of Elsweyr from corrupt Imperial hands. We will bring glory to their names and stories as they are some of the best written in the game. THE DRAGONGUARDEven though the Dragonguard could be put under factions, I believe they have enough mertic and plot importance to have a section of their own. We'll be closing out the Road to Warm Sands with the Dragonguard as it contains major spoilers for those who have not played through the Dragonhold DLC. All roads of the Elsweyr chapter lead to the newly reformed Dragonguard as well, so it would be fitting to dig our toes into these warm, salty sands.
